Abanqobi (isi Zulu: the conquerors) is a Non-Profit Organisation registered with the Department of Social Development. This NPO is an offspring of Re-Action’s programmes in Household Economic Strengthening and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programmes. We have been supporting households in Nkangala District in Mpumalanga, South Africa since 2007. Our launch partner was the United States of America’s PEPFAR (The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief). Funding for this outreach programme ended in 2014.
Based on the multi-sectoral HIV and AIDS Support Programme (MSP) data, it is estimated that 5.7 million children (a third of the children in SA) would have lost one or both parents mainly as a consequence of the HIV pandemic. Our purpose has become “growing vulnerable individuals into valuable communities”
